Ethics and Politics: Two Ways of Approaching Evil

Having conceded that evil exists and is something undesirable, one can approach it in two ways: either by trying to overcome it and replace it with good, or by trying to tame it and pretend that it is good. The former approach is called ethics. The latter approach is called politics. And while there is no guarantee that the former is able to achieve any permanent success, there is also no doubt that the latter opens endless possibilities of sinking into permanent failure.
