Business, Ethics, Politics, and Demoralization
The essential ethical difference between business and politics is that in business unethical behavior is purely contingent and always counterproductive in the long run, while in politics it is stricly necessary and constitutive of political success. In other words, while there clearly are many unethical businesses, there can be no such thing as ethical politics. Thus, the best way to demoralize business is to politicize it, while the best way to prevent the demoralization caused by politics is to be businesslike in starving it of resources.
