It would be great if capitalism and "consumerism" really ruled the world. Alas, instead of being preoccupied with the production of capital and the consumption of various useful goods and services, people still devote overwhelming attention to the parasitic ruse known as electoral politics, thus keeping it alive and well. In other words, the cunning capitalists - for all their motivational advertisements, subliminal messages, planned obsolescences, etc. - still have a lot of work to do before they manage to do the world the favor of consuming and exploiting the institutionalized parasitism of politics out of existence.
