Post-Subsistence is Possible, Post-Scarcity is Not
An important conceptual distinction: a post-subsistence economy is logically and even physically possible, while a post-scarcity economy is both logically and physically impossible. The reason for this is simple: given a sufficiently small population and sufficient productive potential, all subsistence goods can become free goods, but all conceivable goods can never become free, since actual infinity cannot be fit into a universe of finite energy and the constraints of the logic of choice.
