Bastiatian Thought Experiment
Imagine a world in which 99.9% of people either actively profess or passively believe in the legitimacy of the idea that everyone is entitled to live at the expense of everyone else and can secure such entitlement by means of coercive exaction. Now ask yourself a question: how would such a world look like and how would it differ from our world?

Thomas Hobbes answers this question when he defines man's natural state. Because that's what this Thought Experiment is talking about.
